(If you would like to get involved in a sponsorship event on behalf of HG RGT, send us an email and we’ll publicise your event on our website.)

Please read on to find out more about about current sponsorship opportunities and also stories about what others have so courageously done in the past.

  • On September 11, 2016, one of our longstanding volunteers, Dan Welch, ran the Great North Run and surpassed his original target of £1,000 for Hall Green RGT. Dan managed to raise £1,040! Dan said that after avoiding running for the last 30 years, his wife ran the GNR last year which inspired him "to get off my bum" Well, Dan ran it in 2:43:55 and raised much needed funds for the Trust. So cheers to our volunteer, Dan!

  • On July 2nd, 2015 Rob Watson cycled 200km over 2 days following the Tour de France climbs, Croix de la Fer (1292m), Glandon (1472m), Col de Telegraphe (856m), Galibier (1245m) and Alpe D'huez (1071m). To top it all, his hotel was at the top of Alpe D'duez, so he had no choice but to conquer that twice! Rob raised £1,000 for HG RGT. Tres, tres bien, merci beaucoup!

  • Jo Wilson cycled coast to coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in 4 days, starting on July 30,2015! It started as a personal challenge but Jo didn't want to waste the opportunity to raise much needed funds for HG RGT. She said "because animal welfare is important to me." Jo raised a fantastic £324.04. We'd like to say, "Cheers" to an amazing volunteer.

  • On November 6, 2104 Trevor Burton did it again - hosting his 4th annual fundraising event for Hall Green and Perry Barr RGT with a charity gig at Hall Green Stadium that raised £460 for each charity, including a £100 donation from comedian Jasper Carrot. A huge thank you to Trevor and all his mates Danni King, Goeff Turton, and Suzi and the Backbeats who all played for free for the sake of the hounds and to Hall Green Stadium for providing the banqueting suite free of charge.

  • A very BIG THANK YOU once again to Pets at Home. Their Bromsgrove and Leamington Spa branches have been busy supporting Hall Green RGT by raising at total of £1,373.50 in Bromsgrove and a generous £298. 21 in Leamington. A huge thanks to staff members at both branches. Without the dedication of our volunteers who work with the stores, and the kindness of Pets at Home Staff this would not be possible.

  • What an inspiration - Kara Evans took up running and lost 4 stone since last Christmas! She wanted to help our hounds this Christmas and raised £120 by doing the Birmingham half marathon on October 18, 2104. Kara said she's not in a position to have a dog at the moment but wanted to help in another way. Thanks so much for thinking of us Kara. Well done!

  • Clare Newman, a dedicated regular HG RGT dog walking volunteer raised a whopping £500 for our homeless hounds by running in the Birmingham Half Marathon on October 18, 2014. She's a great ambassador for the Trust and she did our dogs proud! So hats off and a big cheer to our volunteer, Clare.

  • Thumbs up to Charlotte Perks who raised money for the Trust by doing an “Ice Bucket” Challenge and selling loombands and came up to our Waseley Walk to present her cheque on September 14, 2014. Charlotte raised £10 in all. Every pound donated helps us care for the dogs in our kennels so a big WELL DONE and THANK YOU to Charlotte seen her lovely greyhound Sparky.

  • On June 1, 2104 11 year old Jack rode his bike 15 miles to raise £170 for HG RGT. Jack used to be frightened of dogs until he got to know his neighbours two greyhound, Sky and Jake. Jack came up to the kennels with his Dad, Dave, mum, Tracey and sister, Amy to present his cheque and receive his special certificate from our volunteers to say a huge thank you

  • Greyhound owner, Stewart Grainger has run Birmingham’s half marathon twice to help HG RGT. Well done and thank you to Stewart. "I raised £300 in 2008 and did even better in 2009 after raising a further £400 running Birmingham’s half marathon.

  • Keen walker, Paul Elkin has completed his 50 mile challenge of walking St Kenelms Way that stretches from Clent and ending at Winchcombe, Gloucestershire in aid of HG RGT. Paul had (moral) support from his wife Kate and their lovely greyhound Diva and they were thrilled (as we are, thank you!) to have raised £648 for their "favourite charity".

  • Many thanks to vetran marathon runners, Fat Paul and Fin Liz, teamed up to run the London Marathon in aid of HG RGT. Paul and Liz had set a target of £500 and were thrilled that they were able to hand over a cheque for a whopping £737 to the Trust. They said that knowing that the monies raised was going to a "magnificent cause" kept them going.

  • Marathon Man - Another one of our amazing volunteers took the challenge of keeping fit seriously. Ex Hall Greenracer Jhonty’s human, Alan, who is a regular at awareness raising events, ran in the Stratford Marathon on April 29th, 2012 on behalf of Hall Green Retired Greyhound Trust. Alan is a keen runner and has run on behalf of the Trust before. Alan reckons he raised over £250 for the Trust despite the appalling weather and burst banks on the River Avon. Well done and thank you Alan!
